ABOUT BEN BAKER
Born in Adelaide, Australia, Ben Baker grew up frequently travelling through the Outback with his father. These early adventures ignited his curiosity and he knew a desk job would never be for him. After finishing school, he landed in New York City where he soon found himself on set as an assistant for Annie Leibovitz. After assisting some of the most legendary photographers in the business, Ben set out on his own career. Armed with his camera and Australian charm, Ben’s innate ability to connect with his subjects set him apart. He’s best known for his honest and approachable portraits of the great people that shape our lives – from world leaders, politicians, celebrities and business people to his Mum, women of all ages and real life heroes.
His portraits are displayed in the permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery of Australia and in the African American Museum of History and Culture in Washington DC. He has also shown his work at the National Geographic Museum in Washington DC.
Today Ben lives in Chinatown, New York with his wife, Marti. Whenever he finds a free moment you can spot him on the city streets, working on his passion project, Conedogs.
